March 21st--History Fair
Ms. Tesmond is judging one of the entries to the History Fair. Ms. Tesmond did a fantastic job of organizing the event!

My afterschool group just finished assembling the second edition of the Peirce Press. I wish I could include the pictures of the students on the assembly line. You can visit the Peirce Press online edition here. The paper is getting better all the time!

March 18th--A Walk in the Neighborhood
Venu and I went for a walk in the neighborhood. She is about to move down toward UIC, so we took full advantage of her last day living so close by. The weather was perfect!

Nordine and I went to see the parade downtown. Here is the Chicago River dyed green.
March 16th--Scrabble at Hopleaf
Venu and I headed to the Hopleaf for a good game of Scrabble. We were the coolest people there. Everyone wanted to borrow our game.

I've rotated the pictures on my family portrait wall. This time it is my great-grandparents from Sweden, Peter Bengston and Elna Christerson. On the other side is my mom and dad.

March 13th--Walk on the Beach
Today was another beautiful day! I took a walk on the beach in the afternoon and it was just packed with people. This the view of where I used to live. Seven years ago the water was high enough that this pile of rocks was an island.

I had plans with my National Board friends, but we all seemed to forget about them. The best part was that I didn't scheduling anything else for the night. Instead I took a bath, read a book and went to bed early. Hooray!

March 4th--On the Mountain
Carol, Tiffany, Nora, Chris and I are at the top of the mountain in Breckenridge. March 3rd--Apres Ski
Nora and Tiffany are relaxing in front of the fire after a long day of skiing. Carol's sister-in-law, Ellie, invited us to stay at her condo in Breckenridge. It was a wonderful time.

My student Sara gave me a gift certificate to her family's restaurant, A Taste of Peru. It was delicious!
